Happy Tree, Original

Size: 20x16" - 50.8 × 40.6 cm - After months of hard seasons, the tree still bloomed. Just like Clara. Through the hospital, the pool, the sleepless nights: she kept growing. And one day, without even planning it, the fruit just showed up. Bold, red, and unstoppable. This is what happens when you don't give up on yourself. You bloom.

Somewhere Collection: On April 12, 2023, Clara had surgery. We expected one day in the hospital, a cast, four weeks, and back on her feet. What came instead was months of strong dystonia, a strong seizure, nights and nights without sleep, and four months without walking. Day after day at the gym, at the pool with her dad by her side, tears and perseverance that words can barely hold. And in the middle of all of it, hours and hours in the studio. The place that became Clara's sanctuary.

As her mom, Clara has always taught me to see the beauty in everything and never give up. Then in November I fell down the stairs, broke my knee and shoulder, and she realized I wasn't a superwoman after all. Something shifted between us. She embraced her mission, she started understanding the magnitude of it, and since then, we have been having the time of our lives.

Somewhere is about that: the place you didn't plan to be, the one that didn't feel fair, the one that broke you. And the one, if you stayed long enough, that turned into everything you ever dreamed of. We are living our somewhere. And we want you to find yours.

Because wherever you are right now, in the waiting, in the pain, in the doubt, or finally in the dream: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Someone (AKA our Queen Clara) made art for you from that exact place. Hang it on your wall. Let it remind you every single day that your somewhere is worth it. That you are worth it.

SPOTTED IN

Hi, I’m Clara.

Sometimes people tell me I shouldn’t dream so big. That because I can’t speak, read, or write, I should “stay quiet.” But I don’t want to stay quiet. I want to paint louder.

I had a stroke while I was still in my mom’s womb. The doctors told her my life would be a nightmare. But here I am — building my future.

Even though I can’t speak, read, or write, I understand three languages — English, Portuguese, and Italian. I guess my brain found its own way to communicate, just not the one doctors expected.

I’m writing this with the help of my mom (my business partner, my best friend, and my biggest cheerleader) and ChatGPT — and reading it with my text-to-speech app.

Painting became my language. It’s how I share everything I can’t say with words — my love, my anger, my hope, and my joy. Because even if my voice sounds different, I want you to hear me.
