Once upon a time, there was a girl named Clara. She lived in a world that wasn’t always easy for her—walking, talking, and even being understood were daily battles. Doctors once said she wouldn’t have a story at all. But Clara had other plans.
With markers in her hands, she built her own dreamland. A place filled with color, where houses stood tall, trees grew strong, and skies shone brighter than worries. In this world, Clara could be free—arms open, smiling, and ready to share her light.
This self-portrait is declaration: “I am here. I am Clara. I am full of life and dreams.” The rainbow bursts behind her are not just decoration—they are the energy she carries, the courage she embodies, and the joy she insists on spreading, no matter the challenges.
Once Upon a Time Clara reminds us that every story can be rewritten, every dream can bloom, and every child—even the one told she couldn’t—can fill the world with color.

Hi, I’m Clara.
Sometimes people tell me I shouldn’t dream so big. That because I can’t speak, read, or write, I should “stay quiet.” But I don’t want to stay quiet. I want to paint louder.
I had a stroke while I was still in my mom’s womb. The doctors told her my life would be a nightmare. But here I am — building my future.
Even though I can’t speak, read, or write, I understand three languages — English, Portuguese, and Italian. I guess my brain found its own way to communicate, just not the one doctors expected.
I’m writing this with the help of my mom (my business partner, my best friend, and my biggest cheerleader) and ChatGPT — and reading it with my text-to-speech app.
Painting became my language. It’s how I share everything I can’t say with words — my love, my anger, my hope, and my joy. Because even if my voice sounds different, I want you to hear me.
