Clara Collectors Series #2 – Meet Mago Deda

Today I want to talk about some people who enter your life and just stay in your heart. 

We met Mago Deda in the strangest of times—during the lockdown, when the whole world felt closed and gray. We didn't know what to share on Instagram because of the pandemic, and somehow, magic (literally!) brought us together.

Deda is a magician, and back then, he was doing live shows online to bring a little joy to people stuck at home. We connected for a live together, and that was it—we became friends.

Since then, Deda has been part of our journey in so many ways. He taught Davi some magic tricks. He also helped us shoot the photos for the launch of the Clara Woods Collection website and the first drop of hand-painted bags in 2020.

But what makes our bond even more special is the way he feels about Clara’s art. He told us:

"Clara è magica. I suoi quadri sono capaci di parlarti, di dirti di credere in te stesso, di andare avanti e di non arrenderti mai!"

Translation: “Clara is magic. Her paintings can talk to you. They tell you to believe in yourself, to keep going, and to never give up!”

And about gifting Clara’s art, he said:

"Comunque sono molto felice di regalare un'opera di Clara… Per me ha un valore enorme, è come regalare un oggetto di un parente o di una persona molto cara. Ogni mattina guardo il suo dipinto e penso a voi, poi il tatuaggio e lo accarezzo! Siete tutti voi speciali per me e spero prima o poi di potervi riabbracciare!"

Translation: “I’m so happy to gift one of Clara’s artworks. For me, it’s priceless, like giving something that belongs to a dear family member. Every morning I look at her painting and think of you, then I touch my tattoo and send you love. You’re all so special to me, and I hope one day I can hug you all again!”

Yes!!! Deda has a tattoo of Clara's signature on his wrist! 

Deda has several artworks and he is the proud owner of one of Clara’s most powerful self-portraits: SAMO—a Basquiat-inspired piece that holds a lot of Clara’s strength and story.

"Ho acquistato diverse opere di Clara e una delle mie preferite e Samo perché in questa opera vedo Clara che dipinge ed è felice e ogni giorno che guardo il quadro è come se Lei fosse qui con me … tutti i suoi quadri mi trasmettono un messaggio ma questo più di tutti perché ritrae la mia amica Clara mentre sta facendo quello che ama… trasmettere parole messaggi colori tramite il dipinto!
E molte volte lo uso come sfondo dei miei video per averla assieme a me… amo così tanto quello che fa Clara che ho anche tatuato il suo nome sul polso così e sempre con me e quando ho bisogno di energia e forza lo guardò e so che posso farcela ! 
Grazie Clara a te e alla tua splendida famiglia ! Ti voglio bene ! A presto!"

Translation: 

"I’ve bought several of Clara’s artworks. One of my favorites is Samo because in this piece I see Clara painting and being happy, and every day when I look at the painting, it feels like she’s here with me. All of her paintings send me a message, but this one more than any other, because it shows my friend Clara doing what she loves—sharing words, messages, and colors through her art! I often use it as a background in my videos so she can be with me there too. I love what Clara does so much that I even tattooed her name on my wrist, so she’s always with me. When I need energy and strength, I look at it and know I can make it through! Thank you, Clara, and your wonderful family! I love you! See you soon!"

Our journey together is full of moments like these—friendship, magic, art, and so many shared memories.
