This artwork is 100% handmade by Carlo and Clara.
Carlo built the structure in MDF, and then Clara used it as her “playground” to create "Iris".

The first thing you see is a big purple flower that makes you smile right away. Then, if you pay attention, you’ll find a tiny hidden Clara — her little self-portrait tucked inside the shapes. You can see it and not see it at the same time.

The colors are super happy and bring a good mood to any wall. It’s the kind of piece that makes a room feel lighter and more alive.

Hi, I’m Clara.

Sometimes people tell me I shouldn’t dream so big. That because I can’t speak, read, or write, I should “stay quiet.” But I don’t want to stay quiet. I want to paint louder.

I had a stroke while I was still in my mom’s womb. The doctors told her my life would be a nightmare. But here I am — building my future.

Even though I can’t speak, read, or write, I understand three languages — English, Portuguese, and Italian. I guess my brain found its own way to communicate, just not the one doctors expected.

I’m writing this with the help of my mom (my business partner, my best friend, and my biggest cheerleader) and ChatGPT — and reading it with my text-to-speech app.

Painting became my language. It’s how I share everything I can’t say with words — my love, my anger, my hope, and my joy. Because even if my voice sounds different, I want you to hear me.

I was honored to be named an Internet Gamechanger by Forbes and Facebook for the positive impact I’ve made on inclusion and creativity.

The Sparkle Collection

It started on a rainy afternoon here in Southern California.
We were all a bit tired. Everything was messy.
I had fallen down the stairs, I was hurt, everything stopped… and when you run a small business, that shock hits hard.
The holiday can be overwhelming.
Too much work, too many memories, missing people who aren’t here anymore.
So we took a pause and a deep breath, and said,
“Let’s go inside and see what we can do.”
Then a sparkle of hope showed up.
My body started healing faster than anyone expected.
A sparkle of support arrived as well; with Najat and Clara stepping in, taking photos, organizing the studio, and getting everything ready so that we could get back on track again.
Inside the studio, we found artworks that were just sitting there, waiting — almost asking to shine again.
Different styles, different colors, different sizes, different techniques.
