Garden of Hope, Original
48×30" (122×76 cm): Hope. We use this word all the time, but do we really know what it means? The Greeks had a word for it, elpis. It meant a firm expectation, a deep confidence that good things are coming, even when you can’t see them yet. Some scholars even believe hope is linked to the word hop, as in someone who hopes is literally leaping in expectation. How beautiful is that?
Different flowers blooming in different colors, going in different directions, a little messy, a little wild, but somehow perfectly organized, like life when you really think about it.
In a world that feels completely upside down, Garden of Hope is here to give you peace. When it finds its new home and its new family, we hope people will look at it every day and feel that confidence deep inside, that little leap of the heart that says everything is going to work out. The Garden: Clara went on walks, bought flowers at Trader Joe’s, brought them all back to her studio, combined them, and just like that, The Garden was born. Spring in California is something special, but if you’ve ever lived in Europe, you know that feeling when the first little white daisies pop up in the green grass after a long, cold winter. It’s a sparkle of hope! We hope you will love The Garden as much as we do. It was created to bring joy, hope, and that little moment when the spring sun wraps around you like a hug.

Hi, I’m Clara.
Sometimes people tell me I shouldn’t dream so big. That because I can’t speak, read, or write, I should “stay quiet.” But I don’t want to stay quiet. I want to paint louder.
I had a stroke while I was still in my mom’s womb. The doctors told her my life would be a nightmare. But here I am — building my future.
Even though I can’t speak, read, or write, I understand three languages — English, Portuguese, and Italian. I guess my brain found its own way to communicate, just not the one doctors expected.
I’m writing this with the help of my mom (my business partner, my best friend, and my biggest cheerleader) and ChatGPT — and reading it with my text-to-speech app.
Painting became my language. It’s how I share everything I can’t say with words — my love, my anger, my hope, and my joy. Because even if my voice sounds different, I want you to hear me.
